The last few weeks have been pretty busy. Plenty of running and cycling as the 23rd of April gets closer. Hey Marathon

I’ve had a couple of good spins on the bike including the Stephen Roche Atlantic Challenge in County Clare.  I met up with some of my cycling buddies for the 80km spin.  The rain eased up for the day but we still had to battle some nasty headwinds and crosswinds.  It wasn’t as tough as 2013 but it still tested all of us.  Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet Stephen Roche and Sean Kelly.

I’ve been putting in the miles for the Connemarathon 39.3  ultra on 23rd April.  I have one or two long runs left including a 10 mile race in Donegal on Easter Saturday.  My only real worry is how to stay fuelled up during the race.

Monday was day 100 of the Year.  I passed the 550 mile mark which has me on target for 2017 miles for the year.

If you are looking for something different to do on Good Friday Dave Donoghue is trying to set a World Record for the longest guitar lesson. I’m booked in for the first class.  There are a few beginner classes and plenty of classes for the more advanced guitarist.  All guitars are provided.  Proceeds go to Jigsaw.  Full details on  www.kaizenguitar.com

The weather has been getting better and the evenings have been getting longer which has been making marathon training that bit easier.

Its great to see so many people out running and walking.

The Galway 5km series is starting in a couple of weeks.  I haven’t taken part in this event for a few years.  I’m looking forward to it,  especially the race in Caltra as I’ve never run there.
