Runners 2017

I had a nice 8 mile run on Saturday evening. Salthill prom was glowing from an amazing sunset and I was managing a fairly good pace.

Shortly after I got home a post popped up on Facebook, 4 weeks to the Connemarathon. I got a bit of a shock, I was sure it was 5 weeks. I checked my training plan. Everything was in place. I had to remind myself of the amount of work I had done.

It did get me thinking of what I could do over the next four weeks.

Had I enough long runs done?  Had I done any hill work?

Yesterday I got out for a nice hilly 8.5 mile run. Even though it was around 5.30 before I started it was still pretty warm. It was nice to be able to wear a vest and sun-cream as I hit the backroads to Barna.

Barna pier was basking in sunlight, completely different to the winter nights I’m used to experiencing.

Tonight I will be doing a track session.

I have a long run planned tomorrow and a few 7 – 8 mile runs should get me through the rest of the week.

I have a couple of 5 mile runs planned for Monday 3rd April. All details are on my Facebook page.

If you are running in Connemara on 23rd April and are wondering if your training is going to plan please do get in touch.
