It’s been an interesting week. I got some good runs in with my longest effort of the year today.
Last Thursday the Physiotherapist Jane Campbell gave a talk to the members of ‘On The Road Again’. I hadn’t seen Jane in a few years – not since our glory days of running Dublin marathons!
I was curious to find out about stretching and foam rolling.
I find that a lot of people are hung up on static stretches before running in the hope of preventing injury as one of the main things I teach at my running workshops is to concentrate on dynamic stretches and work on your stride and posture to eliminate putting extra strain on muscles and joints.
I had 2 running workshops last weekend and I still have a couple of places left for this Saturdays workshop.
March is looking like it’s going to be jam packed so I won’t have a date for a running workshop until next week, but I will also be training people for the “women’s mini marathon” in June and “Tough Mudder” in July. Tell me about your requirements info@omaillefitness.com.
My calve muscles were quite sore since Saturday so this afternoon I walked down to Salthill and stood in Galway Bay for a few minutes. The water was ice cold and sorted my legs out.
I am going to a talk with Sonia O Sullivan next week. There will also be people talking about smart training, injury prevention and nutrition so it should be a great evening.
I had a meeting this afternoon with Áine from ‘Hand in Hand’. They are a charity that provide support for families effected by childhood cancer – I am going to be asking individuals and companies to sponsor a mile on my 2,016 mile challenge.
I am entered in the Health/Beauty category of The Best of Galway Awards. You can vote at www.bestofgalway.com
