So it’s that time of the year again. A lot of people take stock of their life and decide they are going to make great changes for 2016.

Most people set a resolution and stick to it for about 3 weeks.

Christams Blog

If you have read any of my previous blogs you will know that I don’t believe in giving things up. I much prefer taking things up and making a lasting and positive change to your life.

These changes don’t have to be all fitness related. The important thing is that they have a positive impact on your life.

Take more photos! They can be amazing and personal Christmas and Birthday Presents.

Learn how to cook! There is nothing more annoying than reading someone’s status that says they have eaten take away for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Live in the moment!

Take up an evening or part time course!

I have recently started an evening class in Sports Massage.

Set yourself realistic goals!

Long Term, Medium and Short Term. In order for you to achieve these they need to be personal and achievable.

My goal for next year is to run 2,016 miles in 366 days.

Last year my target was 2,015 miles. I’m not afraid to admit that I failed miserably. I had probably failed before I even started.

I have spent the last few months working out how I can achieve my goal next year. Part of this has involved me having complete belief in achieving my goal.

I have also run every day since November 15th.  I have never really run more than 3 or 4 days a week especially at this time of year.

I am signed up for a Christmas Day and St Stephens Day run and I will have run more than 200km in the month of  December.

My advice for the holiday period would be to stay active. Yes it is a busy time of  the year and it is great to catch up with family and friends but this doesn’t mean you have to be paying the price for months to come.

The weather is incredibly mild for this time of year so there is no reason not to get out for a walk, run or cycle.

Try not to go overboard on the chocolates and biscuits. Even someone with lots of willpower will crack if they are sitting there with a big tin of chocolates in front of them.

If you are interested in taking up running but not sure where to start then why not sign up for my Running Workshop.

I will teach you proper breathing technique, help you to achieve the proper stride in order to avoid any injuries. I can also help you with proper posture.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I look forward to seeing you in 2016.
